O’Chiese Education Authority is currently seeking one Occupational Therapist for the 2026/2027 school year. This would be a contractual position with the individual providing services at the school twice a month.
The applicant will work with students to develop, recover or maintain the skills needed for participation in educational activities. This includes supporting fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, and independence in school tasks. The OT collaborates with teachers, families and support staff to create inclusive learning environments and remove barriers to student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- assess students’ physical, sensory, and cognitive abilities related to school performance
- Support development of fine motor skills (e.g., handwriting, cutting, tool use)
- Address sensory processing and self-regulation needs
- Provide direct therapy (individual or small group) and consultative support
- Collaborate with the Inclusive Education Coordinator, Teachers, Educational Assistants, and other professionals (e.g., speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, psychologists)
- Monitor and document student progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Educate staff and families on strategies to support student development
- Recommend assistive technology or specialized equipment when appropriate
Qualifications:
- Licensed Occupational Therapist in Alberta
- Registration with a recognized regulatory body
- Experience working with a variety of ages of students in a school setting
